Outreach Projects

India Dance Wales has been running educational programmes for over 20 years and is experienced in providing a range of educational programmes for students of all ages and abilities.

India Dance Wales Outreach Projects include:

·       Short Professional Performances & Demonstrations

·       Student Community Performances

·       Touring Productions

·       Residencies

·       Workshops

The aim of workshops and residencies is to give students a taste of Bharata Natyam by making it accessible to all ages and cultures. The work can be based on specific festivals (e.g. Diwalli, Holi, Navaratri) and workshops can include storytelling or educational talks related to the ancient myths and legends behind the dance.

Workshops are cross-curricular and can be tailored to suit participants with a wide range of abilities.

 

The maximum number of students per dance session is 35.

Workshops

Participants could:

·       Be taught the basics moves of Bharata Natyam.

·       Dress up in traditional costume.

·       Understand the meanings behind the movements.

·       Enjoy the stories and poems of Hindu mythology.

·       See and touch artefacts associated with Bharata Natyam and India.

·       Create their own performance (long term residencies only).
